Polsinelli is proud to announce that Richard B. Levin, the Chair of the firm's FinTech and Regulation Practice, will be a featured speaker at the Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul, Korea. The theme of the two-day event is “The World at a Crossroads: Searching for Concrete Solutions.” The conference brings together international speakers from politics, economics, science, and technology. The keynote speakers for the conference will be former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Paul Ryan, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley. Other speakers at the conference will include former German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroder, and Nobel Laureate, Paul Romer.
The panel will discuss how digital currencies such as bitcoin and Ether have emerged as innovative technologies that enable people to exchange and deliver value without using traditional legal tender or mediums of exchange that are administered by central banks. The speakers will address concerns about the volatility of digital currencies, the bubble in the value of digital currencies, taxation of digital currencies, the relations to monetary policy, money laundering, and identity verification, and possible solutions to these issues. In order to promote new digital innovations, experienced industry professionals will need to understand the changes that are expected to be made in terms of regulations for financial stability and consumer protection.
